Jamaal Charles is 30 years old, he’s played in just eight games over the past two seasons, and he wasn’t signed until after the 2017 NFL Draft concluded.
But he’s still Jamaal Charles, owner of nearly 10,000 yards from scrimmage and 5.5 yards per carry since entering the league in 2008. He’s the most talented and most accomplished running back on the Denver Broncos, and he’s not ready to concede the starring role in Denver’s backfield just yet.
Although the Cheap Jerseys Broncos are planning on instituting a committee approach behind starter C.J. Anderson, Charles made it perfectly clear after Monday’s practice that he didn’t join the Broncos to become just another guy.

Mr. Irrelevant is having the cast removed from his throwing arm.
“Why not think I’m going to be the man,” Charles said, “if I’m not going to try to be the man why am I here? Might as well be on my couch.”
After five seasons of 1,000-plus yards with the Kansas City Chiefs, it’s in Charles’ DNA to be the alpha in the offensive backfield. If not for lingering injury issues and a recommendation by a team doctor to retire, there’s a good chance he would still be with Cheap nfl Jerseys Kansas City, a team that seriously lacked his penchant for big plays down the stretch in both 2015 and 2016.
“I’m just excited to be a Bronco right now, so I’m not really caring about what other people think. I was fired,” Charles said bluntly about his departure from the Chiefs.
Charles sounds ready to prove the Chiefs wrong and the Broncos right, but he’s not going to rise above Devontae Booker and De’Angelo Henderson on the depth chart on reputation alone. We’ve heard plenty about the positional battles at quarterback, defensive end, and tight end, but there’s still plenty to be sorted out at the running back position as well.
As he’s proven throughout his career, Charles can provide excellent value in just about every down and distance. He’s always been a Customized Jerseys dependable and explosive receiver out of the backfield, and in a pinch (as was the case with Kansas City’s receiver desert in 2013) he can be prolific, adding 70 receptions, 693 yards, and seven touchdowns.
Jamaal Charles has the chip on his shoulder and the versatility to become a mainstay in the Broncos offense in 2017. The only real concern is his ability to hold up over the course of a long season. It’s the reason the Chiefs cut him, a doctor advised him to call it quits, and he remained unsigned into May.
But he’s done it before. Charles tore his ACL in the second week of the 2011 season and bounced back with 1,509 rushing yards a year later on a dismal Chiefs team in which he was the lone legitimate offensive threat.
Of course, it’s easier to rehab from an injury like that at age 25 than age 30, but the Broncos aren’t asking for three-quarters of 2,000 yards rushing from Charles this season. If being the man means adding a handful of 20-plus yard plays in timely situations Kansas City Chiefs Jerseys and giving the Broncos a lightning to Anderson’s thunder, the Broncos will rightfully be over the moon ponying up the bonuses on Charles’ incentive-laden contract.
It also wouldn’t hurt to get a little revenge on the guys who let him go.
