Sure, Derek Carr lit up the Mountain West Conference, but in his two biggest college games at Fresno State as a senior — against San Jose State in the regular-season finale and against USC in the Las Vegas Bowl — Carr faltered.

In the 62-52 loss to San Jose State, Carr was outplayed by David Fales, and the defeat cost Fresno State a spot in a BCS bowl game. In the 45-20 beating he endured against unranked USC, he had 24 incompletions, and they seemingly sent his draft stock plummeting.

Rightly or wrongly. Fairly or Cheap Jerseys unfairly. Carr had to deal with comparisons to older brother David, the No. 1 overall pick of the 2002 draft by the Houston Texans, also out of Fresno State, who had washed out to become more journeyman quarterback than franchise bedrock. Even if he played behind one of the worst offensive lines in NFL history, if not the worst.

So after Blake Bortles was selected third overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2014 NFL draft, and Johnny Manziel went to the Cleveland Browns at No. 22, and Teddy Bridgewater landed with the Minnesota Vikings at No. 32, the Texans seemed ready to strike with the first pick of the second round, 33rd overall.

The younger Carr would atone for the elder’s sins, real and perceived, right?

Meh … the Texans went with a guard, UCLA’s Xavier Su’a-Filo.

Recounting the memory three-plus years later, Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie grinned a Cheshire cat grin.

Because, yeah, you could say Carr merely fell into the Raiders’ lap when he slipped to them three picks later in that 2014 draft. Then again, some of the best draft moves are the ones that are not made.

A year earlier, the Cheap nfl Jerseys Raiders were zeroing in on USC quarterback Matt Barkley early in the fourth round, where they held the No. 100 overall selection. Finally, as the script played over and over, again and again, the Raiders would find their franchise quarterback in the draft.

This odyssey would have made Homer blush.

Consider: Since Rich Gannon suffered a broken neck on Sept. 26, 2004 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 15 men had started under center for the Raiders, with none tasting the success that Gannon, the 2002 NFL MVP, enjoyed in Oakland.

Kerry Collins went 7-21 from 2004 to ’05, while Marques Tuiasosopo was 0-1 in 2005. Aaron Brooks was 0-8 in 2006, and Andrew Walter (2006 and 2008) and Josh McCown (2007) were each 2-7.

Daunte Culpepper, who was supposed to tutor JaMarcus Russell, went 2-4 in 2007. Russell, the biggest bust in NFL history as the No. 1 pick of the 2007 draft, went 7-18 from 2007 to ’09.

Bruce Gradkowski was 3-5 in 2009 and 2010, and Charlie Frye was 1-2 in 2009.

At least Jason Campbell had a winning record, going 11-7 in 2010 and 2011 before a headfirst slide broke his collarbone and ended his run. Kyle Boller lost his lone start, in 2011. That ushered in the star-crossed eras of Carson Palmer (8-16 in 2011 and ’12) and Terrelle Pryor (3-7 in 2012 and ’13).

Then came Matt Flynn, who was supposed to be the savior but went 0-1 in 2013, and Matt McGloin, who was 1-5 that same season.

Barkley? The Philadelphia Eagles traded two picks in front of the Raiders to draft him in the 2013 draft, and Oakland responded by trading down and taking Arkansas’ Tyler Customized Jerseys Wilson at 112, but he never took a regular-season snap. Barkley never started a game in Philadelphia, spent time on the Arizona Cardinals’ roster, and started six games for the Chicago Bears last season, going 1-5. He signed with the San Francisco 49ers this offseason.

So as free agency dawned in 2014, the Raiders’ wish list of veterans looked like this: (1) Matt Schaub, (2) Mark Sanchez and (3) Michael Vick. The Raiders picked up Schaub from the Texans in a trade and then-Oakland coach Dennis Allen immediately anointed Schaub the starter.

A month later, Carr fell into their laps, and the future was realized as Oakland finally got its franchise quarterback.

“I’ll tell you what, from the outset when we drafted him, before he got here, we were extremely excited that he was still sitting there at 36,” McKenzie said. “Let’s put that out there right now. The rookie minicamp, I think my son could have figured that one out: ‘Man, he can throw, daddy.’

“It was easy to see early. We knew the type of person we were getting in the draft process. Put it together and it was pretty [clear] early. Very early.”

Carr essentially won the Oakland Raiders Jerseys job with a standout preseason performance against the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks, and Schaub never started a game for Oakland. Rather, he has played for four teams in the past four seasons.

And despite starting his career 0-10, Carr has owned the Raiders’ locker room from the day he walked in and settled the constant upheaval that had wreaked havoc through the organization since Gannon

With many considering Ben Roethlisberger a year-to-year quarterback because of his retirement considerations this offseason, his favorite target might just keep him coming back.

Antonio Brown has the Cheap Jerseys chance to become the NFL’s first player with five straight 100-catch seasons, largely because of his chemistry with Roethlisberger. The pair have mastered plays that are often indefensible and will always be available, particularly toward the sideline, such as the out and corner routes.

With both locked into contracts Cheap nfl Jerseys worth nearly $170 million combined, they can prolong each other’s careers if they choose.

That’s why Brown was hoping Roethlisberger would stick around for a while when he signed his $68 million extension in February, saying he “wouldn’t want to play with anyone else.”

The Ben Roethlisberger-Antonio Brown combo has been tough to stop in recent years. Justin K. Aller/Getty Images
“Ben is a warrior,” Brown said. “He’s been through it all. … Never questioned his commitment.”

The best gauge for when Roethlisberger retires possibly correlates to how many prime years Brown has left.

Brown turns 29 in July. Brown’s quickness, ability to avoid injury and insatiable work ethic likely aligns him with Larry Fitzgerald or other receivers who Customized Jerseys remained elite into their 30s.

If Brown realistically has, say, the next two years to battle Julio Jones, Odell Beckham Jr. and others for the top-wideout crown, walking away from that built-in production might be tough with Roethlisberger, who also has Le’Veon Bell in his prime and an elite offensive line.

Perhaps Roethlisberger has reason to be frustrated with the two glaring issues in last year’s AFC title-game loss: pass defense and the lack of a reliable receiving option behind Brown. But assuming the Steelers improve in those areas — which they have, on paper — the Brown-Roethlisberger combo always gives Pittsburgh a chance in every game it plays.

Brown has had his issues Pittsburgh Steelers Jerseys with penalties and affinity for live streaming. But when Roethlisberger recalled two weeks ago why he returned for a 14th season — “the love of this sport, the team and this city” — Brown’s presence weighs strongly in that answer.

But when it comes to Antonio Gates, you are legitimately talking about the literal Greatest of All Time.
“He’s the GOAT,” Melvin Gordon said, repeating himself for emphasis. “He is the GOAT! That man is worldwide! I tell him that all the time. His name carries weight around the whole world. Everybody knows who Antonio Gates is. Not everybody knows Melvin Gordon. Not everybody knows who Melvin Ingram or Keenan Allen are. But Antonio Gates; man, I knew about him when I was little and didn’t even know football that well. You just know Antonio Gates. He’s Cheap Jerseys someone who (transcends) the game. That’s Antonio Gates. Chargers. Tight End. Baller. Legend.”
Gates understands the status he’s achieved after tying Tony Gonzalez’s record for most career touchdown catches by a tight end in NFL history with 111. His first TD catch of 2017 will set uncharted territory, which is why he is the legitimate greatest of all time at his position.

Still, it’s a concept the legend has trouble fully grasping.
“I haven’t quite wrapped my head around it all to be quite honest with you,” he said in a humble whisper. “I look at everything I’ve done and where I’m at; it’s hard to put into words. One thing I can say when it comes to these types of accomplishments is most importantly, my teammates trusted and believed in me. A lot of individuals’ accomplishments come from the team trusting you. Guys making sacrifices for you to be able to do certain things. I think that’s overlooked.”

The number of teammates Cheap nfl Jerseys Gates has shared a locker room with since entering the NFL is well into the hundreds. In fact, it’s probably closer to 1,000. These days, he’s surrounded by players who grew up idolizing number 85.
“I’ve been playing since some of these dudes were in elementary school,” he laughed, acknowledging the younger players get wide-eyed when they see him in the locker room. “I think it’s funny. (It) lets me know I’m getting older. It’s funny, because it’s so many guys that are 22, 23.”

Still, it’s impossible to deny the stature Gates has earned over 14 years of dominance. Mention his name in the locker room and the reactions are all the same.
“He is the real greatest of all time,” said Tyrell Williams, who is 11 years younger than Gates. “He really is. Shoot, it’s just awesome to say I’ve played with him. One of the biggest (thrills) of my career was being on the field with him last year when he tied the record. It was sick. Hopefully I’ll be on the field this year when he breaks it. That would be awesome. I mean, Antonio Gates was always on my dad’s fantasy football team. He had to have him. He was one of my dad’s favorite players, so I watched him a lot. It’s awesome.”

“He’s been in this Customized Jerseys league since I was probably 12 years old,” noted Jahleel Addae, who has matched up with the tight end every day in practice for the last five years. “Being form Florida, I knew about LaDainian Tomlinson, Philip Rivers and Antonio Gates. Those three are truly the greats. Every day, I get to perfect my craft against him. Every day, I get to watch him go about his business as a real professional no matter what it is. The way he takes care of his body. The way he is with film work. The great person he is and what kind of teammate he is. How he carries himself. He’s the GOAT for so many reasons. He has nothing else to prove, but he still comes into work and goes about his business the right way with the right reasons. It’s a blessing. I’m fortunate to be around someone like him.”

Perhaps the best perspective comes from the man lucky enough to follow in Gates’ footsteps. Hunter Henry is entering his second year in the NFL fully appreciative of the chance to be around greatness up close.

After all, he San Diego Chargers Jerseys watched Gates closely from afar since he was in the second grade.
“This is just freaking awesome,” he said, looking at Gates across the room with a smile. “Look at him. That’s Antonio Gates. It’s cool just being in the locker room with him. He’s going to be a Hall of Famer, no doubt. And he’s just a special, special person. It’s just cool. I was in second grade when he started, so it’s crazy to think I was that young and he was doing what he was doing in this league. It’s just crazy. He’s the GOAT!”

Patriots fan trigger warning: No modern Patriots team made this countdown.

It’s not that Bill Belichick’s defenses haven’t been great in the last 15 years. Heck, they would dominate the second tier of a top-50 countdown. It’s just that the modern Patriots lack something most of the historic defenses on this list had to cope with: lousy quarterbacking.

Just as our countdown of All-Time Great Offenses featured teams overcompensating for suspect defenses, this list is full of teams that needed to record shutouts and Cheap Jerseys score on pick-sixes to win because their too-old, too-young, too-injured or just too-terrible quarterbacks didn’t win the game for them.

So really, it’s Tom Brady’s fault that the Patriots aren’t on this list. Send him your angry emails.

These defenses are partially ranked according to stats, from points and yards allowed to sacks, turnovers and the advanced stuff tracked by Football Outsiders’ all-time DVOA list. Everything is adjusted for era, of course, so this is not just a countdown of late ’60s and mid-’70s defenses. Playoff dominance also counts, as does impact: Teams that transformed football strategy or fielded a bunch of Hall of Famers take precedence over teams that put up great numbers for a year or two.

As with all of Cheap nfl Jerseys these countdowns, there’s a “shadow effect” in place. The Steel Curtain Steelers are represented by one year that illustrates their other great years. That way, we can tell some other stories. Of course, those Steelers get bonus points for their dynastic dominance.

Finally, teams from before the dawn of the AFL-NFL era (1960) were omitted from this countdown, though they were included in some others. The Canton Bulldogs allowed 15 points in 12 games in 1922. But no one remembers, and only a handful of us really care.

Without further ado, let’s meet some all-time great defenses…as well as some of the all-time strange and unfortunate quarterback situations that made many of them necessary.

The Jets played in back-to-back AFC championships less than a decade ago, beating Carson Palmer’s Bengals and Philip Rivers’ Chargers in 2009 and Peyton Manning’s
Customized Jerseys Colts and Tom Brady’s Patriots in 2010 playoff games. They did all of this with Mark Sanchez at quarterback.

The preceding paragraph should silence any doubts about whether the 2009 Jets defense belongs on a top-25 countdown.

Darrelle Revis became his own island in 2009, intercepting six passes while Jets opponents threw just eight touchdowns. Seven different opponents were held to 10 points or less. Sanchez coughed up 20 interceptions as a rookie, but the Jets allowed the fewest points and yards in the league, despite all the extra opportunities their offense gift-wrapped for opponents.

Rex Ryan’s scheme combined old-school 46-defense principles with modern, conservative concepts like dropping eight defenders into zone coverage. Ryan mixed and San Francisco 49ers Jerseys matched defenders like David Harris (shown with Ryan), Calvin Pace, Bart Scott and others in ways not even savvy opponents were able to account for.

The Jets released the last holdovers to this era in the offseason, and Ryan was making the wrong kind of headlines a few weeks ago while his peers were coaching OTAs. But it wasn’t very long ago that great defense made the Jets innovators and contenders. Life, as they say, comes at you fast.

The play brought up bad memories of Seattle’s loss to the New England Patriotsin Super Bowl XLIX, which essentially ended with Wilson’s interception near the goal line late in the fourth quarter — a pass play that was run from the Patriots’ 1-yard line. After the Rams game, Sherman said repeatedly that he had no regrets and refused to apologize publicly, even though Carroll thought the cornerback was going to.

The uneasy situation hung over the team down the stretch last season. It was not the reason the Seahawks lost to the Atlanta Falcons in the divisional Cheap Jerseys round, but it didn’t help. After the season, Carroll said the blowups were his biggest regret from 2016. And Sherman’s actions were clearly a big reason why the team thought about trading him this offseason.

Whether Sherman is capable of moving on from last season and the Super Bowl loss remains to be seen. What happens if the Seahawks lose 17-6 to the Green Bay Packers in Week 1? What if Wilson throws a pick from the Green Bay 1-yard line? Will Sherman be able to contain himself?

Maybe. Maybe not. But his words Wednesday indicated that he’s at least making an effort.

In March, Carroll Cheap nfl Jerseys talked about Sherman’s rough 2016 season and said most of the cornerback’s issues were “self-inflicted.” Sherman was asked what he thought his coach meant.

“He means I hold myself to a high standard, and I’m a heart-on-the-sleeve kind of player,” Sherman said. “So I’m competitive as all get-out. That’s what he means. He means I’m competitive as anybody out there, and at all times I’m competing. At all times I’m trying to win. At all times I’m trying to push the envelope and push the limits. And it has always been the case — publicly, privately and elsewhere. So that’s what he means. It’s never changed, it’s never wavered. At times it might have gotten kind of overblown. I might have gone over the top. But he understood where it was coming from, and so did my teammates.”

Whether the Customized Jerseys players realize it or not, this could be the last run with the current core group. Safety Kam Chancellor is entering the final year of his contract. And if the Seahawks considered trading Sherman this offseason, it’s possible that they’ll look to part ways with him next year, when he’ll turn 30.

The organization used four draft picks on defensive backs, signaling that a period of transition is coming at some point soon. It’s just a matter of when and how dramatic it will be.

Sherman’s every move this season will be analyzed and dissected. Carroll’s group of volatile players has made it to the divisional round of the playoffs in five straight seasons. Will they make another run, or will they implode? That will be the story of the 2017 season.

“It’s just a competitive team,” Sherman said. “And that’s why my teammates still ride with me. They’re still ride or die. Because good times and bad times, just like a family. Just like any other family. You’re going to have good times and bad times, but you show your true colors through the good and the bad. And Seattle Seahawks Jerseys they ride with me through the good and the bad, and I ride with them through the good and the bad because we’ve been there. We’re battle-tested.”

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans caught two touchdown passes from quarterback Jameis Winston in Tuesday’s first minicamp practice and proceeded to dunk over the goal post twice to celebrate.

It wasn’t a particularly good day for the receiving corps, whom head coach Dirk Koetter chided for putting too many balls on the ground, but the Winston-to-Evans connection looked strong.

“How much he Cheap Jerseys means to me and this team is indescribable,” said Winston, who wasn’t particularly happy Evans came in at No. 29 in the NFL Network’s recent Top 100 list. He thought he should have been in the top 10.

With Jameis Winston providing the passes, Mike Evans became just the fourth receiver in NFL history to record 1,000 receiving yards in his first three seasons. Grant Halverson/Getty Images
“He’s the best receiver in the league,” Winston said. “You think about the receivers that are in our conference — Julio Jones is going to be placed probably before him, but Mike is every bit of Julio. And I commend Julio because he’s a monster too, but I love Mike. I love our guys.”

On one play Tuesday,
Cheap nfl Jerseys Winston climbed up into the pocket amid pressure, jumped to throw the ball over a sea of defenders and hit Evans with his jumpshot. Granted, it would have been a sack if players were allowed to hit and tackle. But the improvisation that made the two so successful last season and created a handful of dazzling highlights was still apparent, as it’s been throughout OTAs.

The two are always operating on the same wavelength.

“It has to be like that,” Winston said. “All the great quarterbacks and receiver duos have that connection, and we’ve had a pretty good connection. Our connection has grown, actually, over the past two years and now I’m expecting it to go up another notch now that we’ve been together, we’re comfortable with each other and he’s as amazing as he is.”

The connection was born out of necessity two years ago, when the receiving group was marred by injuries. With no Vincent Jackson or Louis Murphy to throw to, Winston Customized Jerseys made Evans the most targeted receiver in the league. It wasn’t something the two were quite ready for, and Evans’ red-zone production fell from 12 touchdowns to three his sophomore season.

By 2016, they were in sync. There were fewer drops. They still had to force things, but Evans matched his rookie haul of 12 touchdowns and became just the fourth receiver in NFL history to record 1,000 receiving yards in his first three seasons. Only five players have now accomplished that feat.

“I always want to have a good connection with my receivers, but the connection that me and Mike Evans have is like no other,” said Winston, who believes that’s only going to get better with the addition of a true speed threat in DeSean Jackson.

Winston hit Jackson on a beautiful deep pass along the far sideline Tuesday. Teams won’t be able to roll coverage either players’ way. They’ll also think twice Tampa Bay Buccaneers Jerseys about who they choose to shadow with their top cornerback.

“I mean, when you’ve got a guy like [DeSean], imagine if I had Mike one-on-one all those times I had to improvise,” Winston said with a chuckle. “I’ll leave it at that.”

The Dallas Cowboys are getting one step closer to games that matter as the offseason ended on June 15th. In a few weeks, training camp will begin in Oxnard, California. There were two things that caught my attention during the Cowboys offseason workouts. Let’s talk about the most important player on the Cowboys roster – running back Ezekiel Elliott.

Elliott’s rookie season was fantastic and nearly record breaking. Hopefully, he proved to everyone that he was worthy of the fourth overall selection in a Cheap Jerseys league that has depreciated the value of players at his position. It helps to have the best offensive line in the NFL, but I believe Elliott is one of those talents that would be elite on his own.

Last year, Elliott ran for 1,631 yards with 322 attempts in 15 games. Breaking down the numbers, that’s 21 attempts per game and an average of 5.1 yards per carry. At 20 years old, he led all running backs in rushing attempts, rushing yards and yards per game. As a team, the Cowboys averaged 30.8 rushing attempts per game. Elliott signed a four year contract with a 5th year option.

I believe Elliott is a long term investment that will get better as he learns to run smarter. Examine his first season and the way he finished runs. There were Cheap nfl Jerseys moments he fought for more yards, times he stepped out of bounds and occasions he hurdled defenders. What you didn’t see was the violent collisions that worried everyone that remembers watching Marion Barber III aka Marion the Barbarian in action.

Barber’s career lasted seven years and ended in injury. He spent most of his career as a back up to running back Felix Jones. Barber reached a peak of 238 carries in 2008. The duo helped Tony Romo earn many of his 78 career wins and carried the Cowboys to a division title and playoff appearances in 2006, 2007 and 2009. Barber was a bruising runner that had a short career with limited carries.

There are now Customized Jerseys reports that the Cowboys want MORE of Elliott this year and have pledged to give him more carries than his rookie year. Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith exceeded 300 carries seven times during his 15-year career and that’s not including the playoff games. Smith’s career in Dallas lasted a remarkable 13-years and his maximum regular season carry total was 377.

Finally, there was the single season of running back DeMarco Murray. In 2014, the last year of his contract, Murray had 392 carries and led the NFL with 1,845 rushing yards. Combined with Romo’s 34 passing touchdowns, 69.9 completion percentage and 3,705 passing yards, the dynamic duo lost in the playoffs due to the reversal of “the catch” and a porous defense.

During Murray’s final Tennessee Titans Jerseys season, we were briefly concerned with wearing Murray out. It became clear that the Cowboys were going to give Murray a new contract when he became a free agent. The offense decided to run him into the ground. Not being concerned about the running back’s future equaled 392 regular season carries.

“I had three guys who were easy, no-brainers, game-changers, in my opinion, that the occasion and the moment was never too big for these three types of guys. You watch their careers and it was definitely up with all three of these guys, Anthony Spencer, Rob Ninkovich and Ryan Kerrigan.

“For Rob, he wasn’t there very long, didn’t play too much, but every time he did step on the field, he got better each week. You just saw this progression. With Rob, he was more of a leader. He actually was one of my OLS leadership advisors. He was a guy you could definitely tell was a leader first and would do anything for the team. He was a backup, and I think he set the sack record, I think, against Indiana. I think he had (four) that game. But just his ability to adapt and wherever they needed him, he played. That’s kind of been his NFL career, too. The Patriots have been able to move him Cheap Jerseys multiple positions. He gains weight, loses weight. He’s just a really good football player. That goes back to his character and who he is as a person.

“Anthony Spencer, you could just tell he had game-changing ability. If I remember correctly when I was on the sideline watching him, he was almost every third down, any time we needed a play, Anthony Spencer was there. Any time we needed a sack-fumble. Any time we needed to switch the momentum and get the Cheap nfl Jerseys momentum back in our favor, Anthony Spencer was definitely one of those guys. He was a really well-liked person in the locker room, always came back after he was drafted and definitely helped Purdue in recruiting and just a good name from Indiana to be around the program.

“Ryan Kerrigan, he was a really close teammate with myself and and the class below me, but his game was very similar to the way he lifts weights. Every time he was in the weight room with Coach Lathrop and he added another plate on the bar, the bar always moved. Didn’t matter how much. He had to just eventually stop because he just kept moving weight. It was very similar to his ability to play football. His junior year was really good and I remember his senior year vs. Michigan, it was an outstanding performance. I think he had 10 tackles, three sacks, it was insane, it just changed the Customized Jerseys game. Every time he came off the edge, they were trying to double-team him, triple-team him and he still was so relentless in his work ethic. That just goes to show how good people have to be to play at that next level.

“The last guy I had was Jaycen Taylor. He’s an interesting pick, in my opinion, but I like him a lot. Because we don’t win two years my senior year without Jaycen Taylor. Ralph Bolden gets hurt, and everybody knows, he had a breakout year because our offense had a breakout year. With Keith Smith having a lot of yards and Aaron Valentin with a new offensive line. If Ralph comes back and rushes vs. IU, we make Purdue history, first time having a 1,000-yard rusher, 1,000-yard receiver and 3,000-yard passer. I don’t think Brees, Orton or anybody has done that. Ralph just wasn’t able to be healthy the Washington Redskins Jerseys last game. Jaycen, I think, accounted for half our total offense against IU. He put us on his back and carried us. Vs. Illinois, they were playing a lot of Cover 2 and not wanting us to throw the ball, and we were able to run power left and right. Jaycen had a heck of a game. We don’t beat Illinois and we don’t beat IU my senior year without Jaycen Taylor running the football. The guy did everything on special teams. He came in and worked. He was a senior with basically a sophomore playing in front of him, kept a good attitude. He was a locker room guy. He had great hands out of the backfield. That’s why he’s close to my mind. He’s not, obviously, the same type of game-changing player (as the other picks), but I know for sure we don’t win two games without that guy that senior year. I think he deserves some credit for that and just what he stood for in the program. He paved the way for Ralph. Ralph was young, inexperienced, didn’t know how to practice, and Jaycen just showed him the way. Ralph obviously had the athletic ability and the speed, so they were a 1-2 punch. Ralph didn’t learn how to run between the tackles like Jaycen could, and that’s why vs. Illinois Jaycen had more carries than Ralph because he could run between the tackles with a thinner frame. He wasn’t afraid to stick it up in there.”

New Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian hopes to enhance one of the league’s top offenses, and that could mean more red-zone touches for top receiver Julio Jones.

Sarkisian reiterated Wednesday how he hopes to enhance the offense, not just “uphold it.”

“The competitor in me is, ‘How far can we take it?'” Sarkisian said.

Falcons WR Julio Jones had only eight red-zone targets in 2016. AP Photo/John Bazemore
Sarkisian, who Cheap Jerseys took over for new San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan, inherited an offense that led the league in points per game (33.8), yards per play (6.69) and passing yards per play (8.23), plus ranked in the top five in eight major offensive categories.

Still, Sarkisian sees room for improvement, including the use of Jones in the red zone. Last season, Jones had four red-zone receptions on just eight targets, scoring two touchdowns. Running back Devonta Freeman led the Falcons with 12 red-zone receptions on 16 targets with two touchdowns. Wide receiver Mohamed Sanu was next with nine red-zone receptions on 11 targets with four touchdowns.

Of course, Jones was the one who drew double coverage inside the 20, so MVP Matt Ryan wasn’t about to force him the ball when he didn’t have to. Plus the Falcons’ ranked ninth in the NFL in red-zone percentage at a 61.9 percent conversion rate. But Sarkisian seeks to build on the production.

“I think, No. 1, Cheap nfl Jerseys they were still very good in the red zone,” Sarkisian said of last year’s Falcons. “But when you have a player like Julio, it’s making sure we maximize his opportunities because there is so much double-coverage, there are so many unique coverages that roll his way that when we don’t get that, let’s make sure he’s one of the primary receivers on that play because it is such a tough matchup for anybody one on one.”

Besides Jones, Sarkisian also talked about how to best utilize the running back tandem of Freeman and Tevin Coleman. The duo combined for 2,482 total yards and 24 touchdowns in 2016.

“I think first and Customized Jerseys foremost, we have two really electric tailbacks, and they are bad matchups on defenses,” Sarkisian said. “Just making sure we’re putting those guys in the best position to be successful — whether it’s separately on the field, whether it’s being on the field together.”

Nothing is more vital to the offense than the chemistry between Sarkisian and his quarterback, Ryan.

“It’s excellent,” Sarkisian said of the relationship thus far. “Matt is a very competitive human being, at anything. It doesn’t matter if we’re shooting hoops at the front of the team room, he’s a competitive guy. But we’ll say for a guy who has had so much success, his willingness and humbleness to want to be coached — in his mind, he hasn’t made it. It’s about, `How do I get better? What do I need to work on?’

“Coming out of the first meeting, he really wanted me to dig into his game overall from a year ago and where can he improve. I think that just speaks Atlanta Falcons Jerseys volumes to the type of player he is, the type of teammate, the type of leader. Anybody that walks in this building, when you see that guy working as hard as he works, it’s contagious.”

It has been a while since Larry Fitzgerald can remember being in a receivers room as deep and as talented as the Arizona Cardinals’ for this coming season.

As the elder statesman of receivers room, it’s Fitzgerald who wants to pass along to the younger generation the type of mentoring and guidance he received after being drafted No. 3 overall in 2004.

“I want to be a resource for the younger guys if they have questions for me, somebody they can rely on,” Fitzgerald said. “And I can try to help them reach their goals, just like I was able to reach mine.”

Fitzgerald Cheap Jerseys lived out every teenage football player’s dreams. He was a ball boy for the Minnesota Vikings in high school, during which time he befriended the likes of Cris Carter, Anthony Carter and Randy Moss, who mentored Fitzgerald during his prep and collegiate years. And when Fitzgerald was starting out with the Cardinals, Shannon Sharpe, Marvin Harrison, Marshall Faulk and Torry Holt reached out to help him. Even Terrell Owens spent time with Fitzgerald, watching tape.

It still continues today.

“I can name 100 guys who call me on my phone, ‘Fitz, I saw you play last week. You need to do a better job of getting out of this break,'” Fitzgerald said. “Not in a way to be demeaning, but just to help me. And they don’t have to do that.”

Now it’s Fitzgerald making those calls, knowing that he, also, doesn’t have to do it.

Fitzgerald talks Cheap nfl Jerseys with Odell Beckham Jr., Antonio Brown, DeAndre Hopkins, A.J. Green and Demaryius Thomas, among other players from around the NFL.

“They’re not always picking my mind, but [I’m] just checking in on them to see how they’re doing, how their offseason is going,” Fitzgerald said. “I like to check on them to make sure they’re enjoying themselves and getting better.”

At the start of Fitzgerald’s career, he heard his veteran teammates bemoan his fraternization with the so-called “enemies.” He listened, but he also formed his own opinion: If it wasn’t affecting his game, then he wouldn’t stop.

It wasn’t. Fitzgerald put up six 1,000-yard seasons in his first eight years in the league.

“We could be exchanging pleasantries, but the next time I come line up for you I’m still trying to take your head off,” Fitzgerald said. “It’s no different, so it doesn’t diminish my competitive spirit at all.”

But times have changed, Fitzgerald said.

During his early years in the NFL, Fitzgerald said there weren’t reasons to “bump” into his foes. These days, with all the charity events for players’ foundations, opponents often find themselves as teammates in softball, bowling, flag football and golf tournaments. Then there’s social media, which allows players to keep tabs on each other without the personal contact of text messages or phone calls.

“It’s actually strengthened the league,” Fitzgerald said. “The competition is still great, but I don’t know how it can hurt to be able to have resources Customized Jerseys like we’re able to have now, to pick guys’ minds and be able to find things they do well and try to implement it to your game to try to improve.”

And now Fitzgerald is trying to pass what he has learned to the receivers in the Cardinals’ locker room.

Rookie Chad Williams, Arizona’s third-round draft pick this year, reminds Fitzgerald of Anquan Boldin because of his good hands.

“Once it touches his hands, it just doesn’t move,” Fitzgerald said. “He’s got unbelievably strong hands. He’s got deceptive speed.

“He’s going to be a great help for us. I love his confidence. He’s a really outgoing young man [and] has a high football IQ, which always helps.”

As for Larry Clark, Fitzgerald is welcoming the undrafted free agent who shares his first name. Cardinals coach Bruce Arians finally learned Clark’s last name after calling him Larry through rookie minicamp.

It took Fitzgerald 14 years to be teammates with a fellow receiver named Larry. Now that there’s another, Fitzgerald joked he made sure the junior Larry knew what was expected from receivers with that first name.

“When Coach is on him and says, ‘Larry, you have to do better,’ I say, ‘Look, we got a high standard for Larrys in this room. When they say ‘Larry,’ Arizona Cardinals Jerseys only positive things are supposed to come out of their mouths,” Fitzgerald quipped.

“I give him a good time. It’s been fun.”
